Saturday Night Fever!

Everybody got into the act on Saturday night as four couples vied to be the 2022 Take the Floor champions.

Ayr Surf Life Saving Club’s Take the Floor dance competition rocked the Burdekin Memorial Hall last Saturday night with guests and competitors alike sporting Afros, handle-bar moustaches and miniskirts.

The event, which is the main fundraiser for the Club, was a roaring success, with tables overflowing with energy and colour as almost 450 people encircled the dance floor to enjoy the show.

Master of Ceremonies Ryan Boccalatte, did a sensational job of warming up guests and getting them into the spirit of the occasion.

The evening kicked off with a touch of clever over-dubbing, bringing John Travolta to life with some choice words of welcome for the surprised audience.

Judge Jackie Noff (Danny Horan) had guests in stitches with his quick-witted repartee and dubious feedback for the dancers. Jackie was joined on the judging panel by Bronwyn Nucifora and Ashlee Aquirre.

Couples Jasmin Lawson and Ben Peters, Meg Blakey and Ross Blakey, Erlinda Nunn and Nathan Toll, and Lorissa Rennie and Dylan Carew lit up the room with their moves, energised by the enthusiasm of the crowd clapping and cheering them on.

Congratulations to all the participating couples who put in so much time and effort to entertain us and raise money for the ASLSC. A particular shout-out to winning couple Jasmin Lawson and Ben Peters for their skillful performance, fancy moves and glittering costumes.
